Developer Simon Willison has announced the release of datasette-ports version 0.4. The utility plugin, designed for discovering and enumerating Datasette instances running on a local machine, has been updated to support the newest version of the software. Additionally, the tool now outputs the process identifier for each detected instance.
Local Instance Detection and Profiling
The addition of process identifier visibility is intended to streamline performance analysis workflows. By exposing the process identifier directly, developers can more readily connect external diagnostic tooling, specifically referencing compatibility with the upcoming Python 3.15 profiler capabilities.
Unknowns and Future Updates
The announcement did not specify whether version 0.4 includes performance optimizations beyond process identifier display, nor did it detail any breaking changes for earlier setups. Further documentation regarding compatibility edges remains unavailable.
Users can install or update the plugin through standard package management channels to integrate the new features.
